At approximately 11:30pm on November 29th, the chapel at Saint Columba Catholic Church was heavily damaged by a fire. The cause of the blaze was determined to be a burning trash can. Both the Chowchilla Police and Fire Departments responded swiftly to suppress the flames, but the chapel’s walls and windows suffered significant damage. According to Father John, the incident has been reported to the insurance carrier of the Fresno Diocese, but the timeline for repairs is unknown.
