Chowchilla Today!

I found somebody’s sock.

The other day as I was doing my bike ride, I came across an item that caught my attention. It was a red and black levis sock. The curiosity got the best of me, so  I decided to check it out and take a picture of it. As I pan the area with my camera, I notice a lot of tire tracks. It had to be at least two vehicles.  Also, I saw a used condom on the ground, which was most likely used by these two love birds.  I thought to myself who this person could be with low self-esteem, feeling unworthy of a Hotel room. Or could this be a case of someone committing adultery? If the latter is the case, I felt despondent for the other half of these people, especially their children if they have any kids. I ride my bike regularly, and finding sexual encounter scenes in the almond orchards of Chowchilla, is not uncommon. Anyway, I hope the rightful owner of this garment realizes the sock is still in the exact location where they did it. Until next time! Chowchillapress.com

New Car Wash

When I moved to Chowchilla 20 plus years ago, I  remember the population sign on the highway reading about 7000+. A few years later, that increased to  15,000, and in 2021, I think it is over 20k. A lot of things have changed. Save Mart was the largest store in town on Robertsons Blvd on the old side of the city, along with Rite Aid, Pedro’s Place, Blockbuster Video, and other business. Save Mart is still the most prominent supermarket in Chowchilla, but now it is located on the newer side of town.  Greenhills and all of that area were not yet in existence. In 2021,  houses and businesses are coming soon, new Car Wash. As sure as I am writing this article, Chowchilla will keep growing whether we like it or not!
